| The Covenant Statement of Faith |
While we believe that life-style is more important than creeds, as a Hebraic-Christian Congregation, we affirm the following fundamental statements of faith. We recognize the need for unity of belief in the fundamentals while allowing liberty in those areas which are important, but not dogma.
|
| 1. |
We believe that the Bible, both the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the Brit Hadashah (New Testament) is the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. (Exodus 24:4-8; 2 Timothy 3:16-17) |
| 2. |
We believe in one God as He has revealed Himself in the Bible and that the meaning of the word "one" in the Hebrew language (echad) refers to God as a compound unity. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:28-30) |
| 3. |
We believe that Jesus (Yeshua) of Nazareth is God in human flesh (the Son of God) who is the Savior, Lord, and Redeemer of mankind. (Psalm 2; John 1:1-18; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:1-2) |
| 4. |
We believe that the Spirit of God indwells all true believers and will comfort, teach, lead, and empower those who obey Him. (Zechariah 4:6; John14:15-18, 25-26; 16:7-15) |
| 5. |
We believe that all have sinned and need to be redeemed. That salvation-redemption is by God's grace and cannot be earned by human merit. It is accomplished in our personal lives through faith in Yeshua's death and resurrection which provides atonement for all who commit their life to Him. True saving faith will be evidenced by the fruit of God's Spirit and works of covenantal love. (Exodus 34:5-7; Deuteronomy 7:9; Daniel 9:18; Psalm 51:1-2; Habakkuk 2:4; Micah 6:8; Isaiah 53; Romans 1:16-17; 3:21-26; Ephesians 2:8-9; James 2:14-17; Galatians 5:22-25) |
| 6. |
We believe in the continuity of God's covenants with the physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and that part of the fulfillment of these covenants is the physical return of the people of Israel to their Promise Land as spoken by the prophets. We understand that God has a role for Christians to comfort and help the Jewish people in their return to the land. (Genesis 12:1-3; 17:2, 4-8: 1 Chronicles 16:15-17; Jeremiah 33:14-26; Jeremiah 31:31-34; Isaiah 40:1; 49:22; 60:8-9; Ezekiel 37; Romans 9-11) |
| 7. |
We believe in the literal, physical return of Messiah to rule and reign upon the throne of David in Jerusalem. (Psalm 2; Samuel 7:12-13, 16: Zechariah 14; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19-20) |
| 8. |
We believe in the resurrection and judgment of the righteous to eternal life and the wicked to eternal separation from God. (Daniel 12:1-3; Matthew 25:31-46; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Hebrews 9:27; 1 Corinthians 15; Revelation 20-21) | |
