SHCC has taken the bold step of investing in the evangelization of the public beyond the walls of our church.  In January 2011 our founding pastor, Bron Barkley, resigned as Senior Pastor of the church in order to be re-assigned by the church board as full-time Director of the Office of Evangelism of SHCC and its associated ministries, Evangelistic Pastors Network and Alive! Ministries.  At that time, his long-time Associate Pastor, Mort Petrushansky, was appointed by the church board as the new Senior Pastor. Pastor Bron also continues to be a part of the preaching rotation.

A specific strategy for public evangelization is being developed by Pastor Bron in which multiple churches and ministries in target areas work together to create major open-air gospel events. These church-based evangelistic outreaches serve to raise the visibility of the local churches in their areas and to engage the public with the call of the Gospel.

Pastor Bron now serves other churches, pastors and para-church ministries as we join together in public evangelism throughout the region.  In connection with this work he is building a network of evangelistically-minded pastors and ministry leaders (referred to above) to broaden and perpetuate this endeavor.  Our long-term goal is the spiritual awakening of Greater Houston and surrounding cities and counties. 

Pastor Bron also provides teaching and training in relational evangelism both for our congregation and for other congregations and ministries.  His teaching and training ministry is aimed at helping local churches bring the American people back to G-d.
