What Is a Yeshiva?
A yeshiva is a Bible study. If we met on Sunday, we might call it a Sunday School, but a yeshva is also a lot more interactive than the typical Sunday School class. It is an informal discussion group where everyone is welcome (but not required) to share ideas on the topic of the class. Shalom typically offers yeshivas in six-week cycles, with a periodic break in the yeshiva schedule to take care of other church business during that time. Our current yeshiva cycle runs from February 25 to April 14.

| "Meet The Pastor"
On your first or second visit to Shalom, you are encouraged to attend an introductory yeshiva facilitated by our Senior Pastor, Rabbi Mort Petrushansky. Rabbi Mort would love to get to know you and to answer any questions you may have about Shalom, about our services and ministries, about the Jewish roots of Christianity, etc. After you have met the pastor once or twice, we recommend progressing to our Jewish Roots yeshiva. |

| "Jewish Roots"
Facilitated by web pastor Margot Armer, this class introduces the original perspective of the Messianic faith of Yeshua as it is revealed to the Jewish & Christian world. We encourage everyone, both new and established members, to participate in this foundational class until they feel grounded in Hebraic Christian beliefs, history, and customs.

| "Introduction to the Hebrew
Aleph-bet"
Taught by Iris Graf. The main thrust of this course is learning to read and write Hebrew. Students in this class are introduced to about 100 words of Hebrew vocabulary, to some Jewish religious practices and to various places in the land of Israel. This will be your opportunity to learn the basics of the Hebrew aleph-bet and the foundational tools you need to learn to speak, read and write God's language of the Old Testament. There is a cost for this class, and we do not recommend starting in the middle. For further information, telephone Philip Heine at 281-348-7877 or email him at assocpastor@myshalom.org. |
